There are a few minor deviations from this pattern of the first letter of each new verse being the next letter in the alphabet.

For example, in verse 2 the first letter of the second word starts with beth rather than the first letter of the first word.

Verse 6 skips the waw and goes right to zayin.

Verses 18 and 19 both start with resh and skip the Hebrew letter qoph.

And then finally after all 22 letters are used, verse 22 starts with pe to end the psalm.
